Sit Down and the World Sits Too 2016 remix

“Sit Down and the World Sits Too” 2016

This is my 2016 re-write/re-mix of a song I wrote nearly ten years ago and the original version is still on my YouTube channel.

This hot new version fills in what the other version lacked. It has everything a quality kid’s activity song should have.

The tempo is just right for the young people to follow and the movements are big and fun while exercising the entire body.

The secret sauce is the positive messages embedded in the lyrics.

If you’ve ever been to therapy (yeah, I’ve been to lots) or listened to motivational speakers, (I need to listen to more of them) they all say that you unconsciously project upon the world around you that which you do or think. (So if you stand up, you are more likely to perceive the world as standing with you, even if they aren’t.)

But then there is the leadership law which says that if you stand up, there is a good chance that someone else will take your lead and actually stand up too.

So you can affect both your internal AND your external reality!

And I want my kids to know they can do that!

Two more positive messages in the middle section:

One for our sleep deprived parents – “Sometimes you’ve got to lay down and go to sleep.”
And another for you goal setters – “to make your dreams come true, stand up and follow through!”

Yeah, they are subtle, but they sink into our subconscious and bit by bit, they make our lives better.

Anyway, all preaching aside…

I think this live video (synced with the studio recording) will be just the thing to help you to share the fun with your kids.

Please enjoy them while they are young!

Love Grows 1 x 1 song with alternate hand-motions-for-kids verses

Yes, I re-wrote the verses to make them more kid-friendly!

The song is by Carol Johnson, but while her lyrics in the choruses make for lovely hand motions, the beautiful verses she wrote do not make good hand motions. This causes the kids to lose interest during the verses.

So, I re-wrote words in the verses so the kids could do hand motions to them.

My music video shows the original chorus hand motions and the new verses hand motions which I re-wrote.

I hope you like it, and more importantly I hope this new version keeps your kids interested even during the verses!

The Moose Song (There Was A Great Big Moose)

May’s Song of the Month: The Moose Song (There Was A Great Big Moose)

Yes, the sound at the beginning is an actual recording of a real moose.

This is a public domain chanting song of unknown origin that grew out of the scouting/camping song tradition that would have a song leader and participation from the group of campers. Like all camp chant/songs, there are many different versions of the song and the hand motions that go with it.

The above music and arrangement is mine. I have taken melody, lyrics and hand motions from various other versions to put together what would work best for my live audiences.

Some really good kids songs are tough to perform for a live audience of kids. I am very happy to announce that this “Moose” song of the month is actually a good performance song for the summer.

It is a call and response song, as well as a “do what I do,” song, similar to, Going On A Bear Hunt, So, I will need backup vocalists to pull it off and hopefully Ashlen or Mikayla will be able to join me for this summer’s performances so we can do this one!

My favorite part the song is the doo-wop style backing vocals but I think I can perform the song without backing tracks if Ashlen or Mikayla are with me. I may put together a backing track version for my solo performances.

Since the hand motions are an intricate part of this song, I hope to get a video up for you soon.
